Burlington, VT. April 9, 2020. Gowns4Good is a newly established initiative focused on protecting healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Medical facilities worldwide are lacking personal protective equipment (PPE) and are using anything they can to protect themselves. When Nathaniel “Than” Moore learned of healthcare providers resorting to makeshift trash bag gowns and masks cut from bed sheets, he founded Gowns4Good.

Than has been practicing as an emergency medicine physician assistant for the past five years, and he uses PPE on a near-daily basis. Than is also a current MBA student and will begin medical school at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) in the fall. With graduation plans being altered or canceled across the world, Gowns4Good was Than’s idea to create a positive impact in the nexus of his medical world and his student world.

Instead of trash bags or other alternative forms of PPE, graduation gowns are more effective given their length, sleeves, and easy donning with zippered access. Although efforts are being made to increase PPE production, worldwide demand is increasing too quickly.

Gowns4Good is calling on students (past and present), schools, and producers to donate graduation gowns that aren't able to be worn this year or might be collecting dust at someone's home. Gowns4Good is collecting and shipping these gowns in batches to hospitals and other medical facilities in need.

To donate gowns, please go to gowns4good.net/donate-gowns. You can also support Gowns4Good by making a contribution to offset shipping costs or by recruiting your school with our pre-made tools.
